After months of waiting, feeding the trees with natural nutrients, pruning as necessary, watching the progress of ripening, the optimum time has arrived to harvest the olive trees.
We've serviced the equipment, inspected and repaired the nets, charged the batteries for the handheld olive harvester and the weather is now favourable, so it's time to begin the hard work!
We spread large nets around the base of each tree. A handheld olive harvester is then used to shake the olives from the tree into the nets on the ground. As we work our way around the tree with the harvester we have to be careful not to step on the olives already on the ground. The nets are then gathered together so it's easy to put the olives into the bins we have ready for them.
